Climate Pros is seeking an attorney who wants to learn and grow with this dynamic business. As Senior Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with our business leaders. In addition, this position is responsible for identifying and administrating other legal matters or risks at Climate Pros and developing as a generalist attorney capable of supporting the legal needs of the business. Terrific opportunity to gain experience and grow as a leader in this in-house role.

Location : Atlanta or Chicago and eligible for a hybrid flexible work schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and Reviewing Contracts: Create, review, and revise several types of legal contracts, including customer contracts, leases, purchase agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Negotiation: At the direction of business, negotiate contract terms with clients, vendors, and other parties to ensure favorable terms for the organization and compliance with applicable laws.
  • Legal Advice: Provide legal advice on contract interpretation and obligations, identifying risks to the company and providing reasonable solutions to those risks.
  • Administration of Litigation Actions: Administration of any potential claims made, or actions filed against company for employment, contract, or other civil claims.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all contracts comply with applicable laws and regulations. Identify other areas of compliance that the company must adhere to and provide advice on how to ensure compliance.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential legal risks within contractual agreements and other legal matters.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain organized records of executed contracts and related documents.
  • Other: Matters or projects requiring legal review or input as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in at least one state in the United States with an active bar number.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience, preferably in a corporate setting. Strong preference for experience in contracts, real estate, or other corporate matters with exposure to litigation or litigation management on employment matters is preferred. Experience in a union environment is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills. Exceptional understanding of contract law and regulations.
  • Initiative-taking approach to learning and continuous development as an attorney for the company.
  • Sound judgment and an ability to assess the level of risk and address appropriately.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in legal research and using legal databases (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while reviewing documents or attending court.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to travel to various locations for client meetings or court appearances.
