Director of Nursing – Labor and Delivery

Location: Joshua Tree, CA

Facility: 59-bed acute primary care hospital

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 24/7 Departmental Responsibility

Compensation: $135,000 - $216,000

Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Director of Nursing – Labor and Delivery for our client in Joshua Tree, CA . This leadership role is responsible for overseeing Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) services, as well as ECHO and Infusion departments . The ideal candidate will have strong clinical experience, leadership abilities, and expertise in budgeting, scheduling, and departmental oversight .

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide full oversight of LDRP, Infusion, and ECHO departments .
• Lead by example to promote excellence in patient care .
• Manage departmental budgets, staffing, and scheduling .
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and Joint Commission regulations .
• Supervise a team including:
• LDRP: 17 FTEs
• Infusion: 1 FTE and per diem staff
• ECHO: 1 FTE
• Support staff development, training, and retention efforts.
• Provide direct clinical support when necessary.
• Work collaboratively with hospital leadership and administrative teams .

Qualifications:

• Current RN license required.
• Minimum of 5 years of RN experience .
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience at a manager or director level.
• Associate degree in nursing required ; BSN or bachelor's in a healthcare-related field preferred.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, finance, and scheduling .
• Leadership experience in women’s services, labor & delivery, or NICU settings preferred.
